以下是鋼琴詩人寫下錄製音樂時的出發感觸,真是多愁善感的老詩人啊...
It was in fall 1997 I heard rumours that Major Studio, the old Rosenborg  Studio in Oslo,had to be closed down.
 
It was a very sad news for me, and I immediately booked in myself for one day. It was not sure what to play. It was an atmosphere of melancholia.
This studio wwas one of the most important studios in Olso during the seveties and the eighties. Even Phil Collins visited this humble studio once.
And all the most prominent norvegian and scandinavian musicians loved this studio very much; thisvery special studio, with the beautiful tree outside the window,
in the street called Tosenborggaten.
 
Much of my own music was first recorded in the studio; also my first recording for Polygram, with the drummer Jon Christensen, bass-player Arild Andersen and guitarist
Jon Eberson.
 
On this occation I played many of my old tunes. It became the live-recording "New Life". I also recorded live (without editing) my "20 Variations over Prelude & Fugue
in C Sharp Minor by Johan Sebastian Bach"
 
By the time I didn't know that the studio actually, in the last minute, would survive. Now it is called the Fagerborg Studio, And I have been working there once more.
Because it is something special with this studio-room, the old Steinway Grand, the wooden walls. Like an echoe from all good spirits who have recorded music in this
studio more than a quarter of a century.
 
I hope it is possible to hear it -through the music.

過年有難得的長假,不過對很多忙著拼經濟的朋友們來說,年節還真是大發利市的重要時刻。接下來我們要介紹的這位二十多歲的女生,靠著創意和巧手,在夜市裡擺攤賣首飾,每個月收入十多萬。熟悉的樂高積木,變成了女孩子們最喜歡的首飾。當耳環,當髮飾,甚至是鑰匙圈。不但牽動了很多人的童年回憶,重點是怎麼把積木別在身上,也會這麼可愛。這些創意來自這位今年不過二十七歲的女生,秀氣的外表和一對圓滾滾的大眼睛,你可能想不到,這樣的一個夜市攤位,每個月有十萬以上的營業成績。重點是一個積木的成本可能只有五、六塊錢,但是被小左加工之後,身價立刻漲上十多倍。重要的吸金因素是,產品要充滿流行元素。擺地攤擺出了自己的品牌,小左說未來要轉向設計,讓自己最值錢的創意部分,更加發光發熱,過年對她來說,當然是忙著累積資本的好時間。民視新聞鄭博暉黃建宇高雄市報導

陷入困境的企業如何東山再起?日本知名品牌無印良品(MUJI)的故事,是一個絕佳案例。
崛起於一九九○年代、掀起極簡風潮的無印良品,後來因擴張失速,一九九九年起獲利急速下墜,二○○二年的業績甚至比前一年掉了五二.四%。當時,市場上認為「無印良品神話崩毀」。然而,從二○○二年至今,無印良品的營收卻直線上升,獲利甚至達到歷史新高,宣告完全復活。它是怎麼辦到的?其中的轉捩點是什麼?
 
關鍵人物,是臨危受命的社長松井忠三。
《東洋經濟週刊》報導,無印良品的黑暗期谷底,是在二○○一年。由於營業利益惡化,當時的社長有賀馨突然引退,由專務松井忠三繼任。松井忠三原本在西友集團(無印良品獨立前的母公司)人事部門任職多年,如今,在無印良品業績下滑的艱辛時刻,一夕之間接任社長重任,壓力之大可想而知。為了徹底了解各地店舖經營情形,他展開「全國走透透」行程,視察當時一一○家直營店。視察到晚上九點,還跟店長們開會到半夜。像這樣,一天也不休息,長達半年。
對於已近二十年歷史的無印良品,松井忠三欲透過改革來提升業績,有一場硬仗要打。從此,他積極展開無印良品「革命一千天」。
 
燒掉三十八億庫存
 
首先必須解決的,是大量庫存造成的財務與管理浪費。當時,採購部門為了避免店面缺貨,往往會比需求量多進貨三○%;然而,無印良品的衣料品銷售量比前一年減少三○%,等於庫存整整多出六○%。因此,松井忠三要求採購人員,往後只要採購預估量的八○%即可。
 
此外,松井忠三更展現破釜沈舟的魄力以立威,一把火燒掉價值三十八億日圓(約十億台幣)的庫存!那是二○○一年的夏天,剛接任社長的他,親自到無印良品位於新瀉縣山區的物流中心,在員工的見證下,一聲令下,把價值三十八億日圓的庫存全部燒毀。望著燃燒的煙霧裊裊上升,松井忠三告訴自己,在「庫存歸零」的此刻,必須跟過去的無印良品說再見。(為什麼不捐出去啊,說不定還能提升企業品牌形象耶,浪費)
誕生於一九八○年的無印良品,原本是西友集團旗下的自有品牌。當時,日本重視以視覺強化品牌識別,並流行用外來語取名;然而,當時西友總裁堤清二對此很不以為然,因而提出「反品牌」的概念,並與田中一光等知名設計師討論之後,開創「無印良品」。以生活型態提案商店(Life Style Store)為特色的無印良品,強調自然、簡單、環保、便宜,大受消費者歡迎。(喜歡借助外來語的習性,台灣企業也有,因為缺乏原創性,所以借用流行語最快!)
 
一九八九年六月,無印良品脫離西友集團獨立經營,以「良品計劃」為公司名稱(「無印良品」則為品牌),並於一九九五年上市。從此,無印良品成為「SPA企業」(Speciality store retailer of Private label Apparel)的先驅,從商品企劃、研發、販售,全都一手包辦,並導入單品管理系統。

改革1:組織面 脫下「感性經營」,外來部隊鐵腕改革
無印良品一向以「感性經營」著稱,無論產品特質與組織管理都「跟著感覺走」。然而,無印良品成也在此、敗也在此。為了迎接愈來愈激烈的競爭,無印良品必須「徹底脫皮」。
然而,無印良品多年來形成的企業文化,難以在短時間內改變,松井忠三決定運用外部的力量。二○○一年下半年,他聘請日本成衣大廠Uniqlo出身的大久保恆夫,以及三菱商事等企業的業務改革團隊,成立十人小組的「經營改革團隊」,以最基本的帳務系統與經營核心的產品開發為改革重點。
無印良品到了二十一世紀還是用手寫資料做帳,一份單據得層層蓋上八個章才能完成,相當煩瑣且無效率。改革之後,簡化為只要蓋三個章即可,此外採購人員的帳目也改用Excel製作統一規格,將各部門採購數字透明化。
店舖方面,採用POS(銷售時點系統),並將倉庫面積由原本佔賣場的二○%減少為一○%,並採取「庫存跟賣場結合」的開放式設計,增加商品的曝光率,也減少庫存壓力。
 
在商品開發方面,初期商品投入減為八成,三個星期之後做評估,銷售最佳的三成商品追加銷售,銷售不佳的後半段三成則採煞車。如今,商品種類從二○○四年的三千多種,兩年內增加到四千八百種,並且將領域延伸到家電產品。
改革2:產品面 擴展經營範疇,商品力再強化
企業真正復活,不能只靠關閉分店來縮減開支,更重要的是「商品力的再強化」。現在的無印良品,已經不只是生活雜貨店,它將經營範疇更加擴展,廣為延伸產品的觸角。從「視覺」與「觸覺」為主的生活雜貨用品,延伸到「嗅覺」與「味覺」的花店、咖啡店與食品,甚至進一步將顧客從室內的店面帶到陽光綠地去露營。此舉不僅大大拓展新的客源,對原本的老顧客也有從心裡「深化耕耘」的作用;在維持無印良品一貫品牌精神的前提下,無論對老顧客或新顧客而言,都會覺得「無印良品不一樣了」。
例如,強調健康、手工製作的餐飲「Meal MUJI」與咖啡店「Cafe MUJI」。另外,還開設花店「花良」(Flower MUJI),並結合行動通訊,讓顧客可用手機上網訂購,並在下單後十三小時內,即可產地直送。如果不知道該送什麼花給對方,只要輸入生日,無印良品的行動服務就能馬上提供「花提案」,以及相關配套商品的資訊(將花卉與生活雜貨結合的禮品)。(飾品可與服裝/社群調性/在色系/風格/圖紋/符號上作撘配性連結)
無印良品甚至更進一步從室內走到戶外,經營起「無印良品露營場」。以「保護自然」與「家族同樂」為訴求,在新瀉、岐阜、群馬等風光明媚的郊區都有設場。
此外,無印良品也強化跟其他知名企業的合作。前幾年,無印良品業績掉得最嚴重的是服飾商品。因為其他大賣場有更多款式、價格更便宜的選擇(例如有「日本佐丹奴」之稱的Uniqlo)。此外,還有所謂「畢業現象」,意思是,當時無印良品的顧客以二十多歲的年輕顧客為主,但這些顧客大學畢業之後,就會「另尋新歡」,轉而投向其他品牌的懷抱。為了拉高顧客年齡層,二○○二年六月,無印良品與日本知名設計師山本耀司合作,以強化服飾商品的設計力。
二○○一年四月,無印良品更大步跨界,與日產合作推出無印良品汽車「MUJI Car 1000」,限量一千台。除了機械部份是由日產的專業負責之外,整體設計都採取無印良品的概念,並結合無印良品顧客的意見整合設計而成,可說是一款由無印良品與顧客共同設計的車子。
從無印良品的產品開發到上市販售的流程,可以看出「商品力」的源頭如何發揮。在開發新產品時,無印良品會召開「商品戰略委員會」,除了一般員工之外,包括原研哉、深澤直人等知名設計師都會加入,以不同的觀點、視野與專業,共同激盪創意。尋求共識之後,會將這個創意試做出樣品,並舉行展示會,讓更多不同領域的人予以檢視並提出意見。
這個階段的重點是:創意可以天馬行空,但最後都必須符合無印良品的理念;即使是一項從未嘗試過之領域的產品(例如汽車),也要讓消費者一看就知道「這是無印良品做的」。
在展店策略方面,無印良品也有所改變。
無印良品在日本有一五三家直營店、一四五家通路,海外分店更擴及英、法、義、德、愛爾蘭、瑞典、挪威、香港、新加坡、台灣、韓國、中國,並成功打進競爭激烈的紐約現代藝術館陳列販售。然而,在赤字壓力下,無印良品開始瘦身,陸續關閉英、法的分店;今年一月,無印良品將歐洲分店統合為一個子公司。
除了瘦身,無印良品也進一步調整策略。以往無印良品堅持「第一家店賺錢後才開第二家」的穩扎穩打策略,但市場競爭愈來愈激烈,這種做法已行不通,店舖太少,無法形成規模,難以跟對手抗衡。
當初,無印良品進軍歐洲,就嘗過這樣的苦。當時無印良品剛跨足海外,品牌知名度不足,加上堅持賺錢才能增加開新店舖,撐得很辛苦。如今,無印良品採取彈性展店策略。雖然「賺錢之後才開新分店」的原則不變,但會根據不同的市場情況而有所調整。
例如,無印良品在台灣開設分店,就不是根據「賺錢後才開新分店」的舊原則,而是根據商圈發展性與顧客屬性來做彈性展店策略。如今,無印良品在台灣北、中、南目前共有九家分店,是亞洲第一,在日本之外的歐美各國分店中僅次於英國,而且跟法國一樣多。
台灣展店的成功經驗,超乎無印良品的預期,也讓松井忠三發現,在日本市場「賺錢後才開新分店」的展店原則,其實有很大的彈性空間。
連續兩季獲利創新高
脫胎換骨後的無印良品,如今元氣十足。截至去年八月中,無印良品已連續兩季創下獲利新高(超過一百四十億日圓),業績也在暌違七季之後終於達成兩位數的成長率。跟一九九九到二○○一年的低迷比起來,真可謂「V字形復活」。
企業經營切勿因一時挫折而喪志。無印良品曾風光上雲霄,也曾低迷墜谷底,但它找出自己的問題在哪裡,並在關鍵之處積極改革,終於起死回生,值得企業參考。

然這則新聞對我來說巳不是什麼新聞,這樣的徐伯伯在《改變人生的相逢》一書裡巳有深刻的著墨,但是,他一直是我的在職場工作上的偶像,所以把它剪報下來,哈哈~

儘管肩上背負著近千億營業額,徐重仁的心卻很定。
他如何自在轉換於On和Off之間?

加州,冬日。暖融融的冬陽下,統一超商總經理徐重仁拿起隨身的Canon SD數位相機,對著一扇倉庫的木門、一隻迷失的野鴨、一片車窗上的楓紅,無聲按下快門。那一瞬間,徐重仁的身體放逐得很遠,心卻靠了岸。

儘管肩負近千億營業額、下轄統一流通次集團三十五個公司,徐重仁的心很定。「我從來沒有心情不好過,」徐重仁笑得像彌勒佛,「不是說人不會心情不好,而是如何用最快的方法,在最短的時間內轉換心情。」

「人要走的路還很遙遠漫長,如果不能自處、轉化心情,生活會很辛苦,」今年五十九歲的徐重仁,最常掛在嘴邊的就是「轉化」兩字,用「轉化」延續人生續航力。

不是挑夫 是登山家

「領薪水、吃頭路,你不是一個挑夫,而是一個登山家,」自認平凡的徐重仁,就是以登山家自許,轉換「挑夫」角色,在統一集團內創業,慧眼引進宅急便、星巴克、無印良品、甜甜圈專賣店Mister Donut、時髦生活雜貨店Sony Plaza。這份「境隨心轉」的功夫,來自於在On和Off找到平衡點。

攝影家柯錫杰在《心的視界》中寫道:「如果你看到的是五,一口氣便把五通通拍出來,結果將是尋常的風景明信片;如果你用你的心、眼去體會,拍出來是五減二之後的三,才是你自己的風景。」

徐重仁也是如此。減法美學,不只表現在徐重仁的攝影作品(見上圖),也是他中年生活的反射。少看新聞、少應酬,減去On的時間,雖然掛著十多個董事長頭銜,徐重仁的時間卻變多了,也更怡然自得。「別人看新聞在生氣,我看日本的BS衛星電視,enjoy情境、歐洲風光或產業變化,」他愉快地說。

徐重仁以簡御繁,以運動、閱讀和攝影三個嗜好,交織出辦公室外屬於他自己的人生風景。

近兩年,徐重仁每遇假日,就在陽明山的小徑上快走五公里。每日早晨,就從家裡出發,沿著外雙溪往淡水方向,花一個小時走上三公里。

有時,徐重仁會揹著相機出門散步,讓自己走進生活深處,找到蟄伏的生命縱深。「我拍天空的雲彩、路邊的花朵,隨性,」他緩緩地說,用心體會,垃圾堆裡也能提煉出美感。

運動、攝影之外,徐重仁Off時間的閱讀,反而讓他在經營事業時,更能吸收創意、創造消費者需求。九年前,徐重仁閒暇之餘讀到日本《日經流通新聞》一則星巴克的報導,他馬上飛往東京銀座,大雪紛飛下,站在暈黃溫暖的星巴克對街,一個人默默觀察星巴克數小時。後來,星巴克果然成為台灣都會族工作、家庭以外的「第三個地方」。

「我不是天生就很會經營事業,但是我看書很會吸收、學習,很會執行,」徐重仁笑著說。

規律的運動、閱讀、和隨性所至的攝影,讓徐重仁不管On或Off,都將天堂隨身攜帶。

She Has No Strings Apollo

琴殤專輯裡,小提琴常和鼔擊蟬鬥出飛旋的火花,在旋律的流裡拼激,疊合,嘶擦,舞鬥到曲末時,雙雙落地化為一聲灰燼。

自己把它歸類為魔幻寫實派的獨立音樂,聽過他們音樂的人,都會把欣賞dirty three的演唱會當作朝聖,在現場感受音樂的力道是比cd更為渲染百倍,那場面很像古老的神壇祭禮,當台上的祭司揚起弓弦,靈靈的弦音綻開,像魔咒般地滲入了眾人的靈體,著魔豎立,或輕輕擺盪,黑壓壓的人海裡,全都在享受著一次又一次深不可測的激昂綻爆,在舞台光芒處,翩然乍現。

 

主旋律是小提琴手 Warren Ellis ,一個愈老愈帥的老傢伙,流浪漢,藝術家,樂師,魔法師,聚合這些人物特徵的Warren Ellis ,像個帶有頹放個性的旅人藝術家,當他站在舞台下時休憩時,一眼就被我猜中他是誰,因為他的髪型真在太酷了,根本像極了耶穌,就連服裝也是戲劇化的隨性裝扮,不修邊幅,衣衫外露,褲紋皺折,加上那神似迷離又啶啶然的眼神,與神態自若的紳士舉止砰激出一種矛盾似的個性神采,像個優雅的流浪漢,或是地獄來的耶穌,一舉一動一個弓的揚長,便是一整個圍地的樂符激放,他們上一次來台灣是去年(2006)10月,我還記得那時站在台下的激動情緒
 
這就是Dirty Three ,中文名為髒三樂團。

今天在公館遊蕩時,不小心在玫瑰唱片遇到,所以也就不小心敗回家了,這張中文專輯譯為《琴殤》,馬的還真傷,小提琴聲嘶力竭地快要把我的耳膜給吞噬了啦,吞的真是悽厲又美麗啊~

你知道張韶涵演唱會,或是蔡依林宣傳照身上戴的項鍊哪裡買?我們找到手工製作項鍊的原創者,她是一位29歲的女生,她的項鍊作品,不但是造型師經常上門選購,實在太特別了,堪稱藝術品的項鍊還曾經在當代藝術館展出過。

張韶涵演唱會上戴過的黑蕾絲項鍊、王心凌脖子上的棒棒糖、徐若瑄、蔡依林身上的配件都是她做的!項鍊達人JOE:「年輕的女孩都喜歡棒棒糖,因為有很Sweet(甜美)的感覺,或是像草莓蛋糕,這是我去找特別顏色的菜瓜布來做的。」

頂個妹妹頭,超時尚穿著,項鍊達人JOE很得意,光是這款棒棒糖項鍊就賣出幾十個。JOE自己小店賣的手工項鍊都有個無厘頭名字,有兔子喝下午茶,還有掛在蔡依林身上的,更讓人意想不到。

JOE:「這條其實它叫做斷背山,因為你看上面有兩個小牛仔(暗指男同志),而且又是蕾絲邊(指女同志),我個人還滿滿意的作品,電話線(做的)。」

沒錯,它的確比較像是藝術,JOE從輔大應用美術系畢業,作得項鍊還曾在當代藝術館展出,被列為100大藝術家

不過誇張的首飾不只放在玻離櫃裡展覽,藝人和造型師都超愛,這樣的創意,穿在任何衣服上很難不變成主角

Maxi Hecker is the one who, until recently, stood almost every day with his guitar and amplifier at the corners of the Hackesche Markt in Berlin. He had the ambition to stand there for as long as it would take to get in on the action. Maxi has a plan, a real plan, and that it is to write the song, after which listening to, you die. No suicide, no murder, just death. Death because the song itself is so enormous or so enormously beautiful, that there is nothing else left to do, but to die. A death out of nothing, finally redeemed. After learning piano and drums in a music school, maxi discovered guitar and then eventually the bass, which well, is inevitably part of it and singing, everybody’s got to sing anyway.

At first, he was the drummer in different bands. He did write songs, but the band members would never play them the way he wished to. After discovering the 4 track tape recorder, he started to become more and more what he is today. Somebody who, in a figurative sense, masturbates in front of the mirror and sends himself flowers after that. He does everything by himself. Writing songslyrics, playing them, singing at the price of solitude. And only this gets him sighing for liberation, whisper in falsetto, to harmonies and arrangements that just want to explode and burst out of their heavy cliches.

This pale and skinny artist describes his target group as good looking women about 10 years older than himself, where he shoots straight into that (in)famous grey area between motherly love and plain horniness. He also hopes that those not belonging to this target group, develop caring pity for him. After the release of about 30 copies of his demo CD, which he gave out as a present to every friends and associates, the first real release was the song Cold Wind Blowing on the soundtrack to Alaska.de on Kitty-Yo. Maximilian Hecker is an incorrigible romanticist, longing for the mother’s heart, a scandinavian model with water blue eyes or for somebody that cooks for him.

 You insist on singing in English, which you called the “language of pop”. Did you or would you ever consider to write songs and sing in German or another language?

First of all, there are a lot of rumours and stuff around on the internet and press. Even in this so called “biography” on my own website, which is a biography that the “Goethe Institut” once made, and that we just took for the website without really checking (I’ll have to change it!). So – I don’t care at all what language might be the “language of pop”, whatever that could possibly mean. The only reason why I sing in English is because I’ve always been listening to American and British music since I was a child. And as I always imitate when I’m creative, it’s only obvious that I also “imitate” or better “use” the language of my idols. And - I never considered to sing in a different language.
 
You’ve done some modeling for album artworks and other artistic projects. Has this involvement in the visual arts influenced or inspired your music in any way? The song, “Kate Moss” for example- does this relate to modeling?

Another rumour. I have never been a model!, at least not what is perceived as “modelling”: catwalk and editorial modelling. I’ve been on a photo once that was a commercial for some agency and then I was one of ten other “acting” people on a “Levis” commercial. That was six years ago. I never liked doing that.
Kate Moss is just a good sounding song title and a symbol for an unreachable woman. Better to name her than “that and that girl from around the corner that I like” and that no one else knows..
My main inspiration for my songs is the music from my idols (Beatles, Bob Dylan, Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Björk, Cat Power, Grandaddy, Nick Drake, Simon&Garfunkel, Leonard Cohen etc.)

In general, how important do you think it is for an artist to make sacrifices and suffer, to experience pain and depression? Some artists claim that they are most creative when depressed. What can you say about that? Does it relate to your own artistic creations?

No. When I’m down, I can’t do anything, not even washing dishes. I have to be balanced and happy to be creative. By the way, if you believe or not, all my songs are about bliss (inner peace - otherwordly, disembodied and released states – eternity - paradise, if you want). I don’t think that one has to sacriefy himself to do a great piece of art. It’s much more about talent than anything else.
 
You said that when you write sad or melancholic songs you don’t always feel sad, and sometimes you feel happy. Can you describe the saddest scene you have ever pictured on your mind?/What’s the saddest thing that you can think of? Can you describe it for me?

See above. Please, let’s not get into this thing with “sadness” to much. I’m like everyone – I like to be happy and I’m searching for happiness. I don’t “enjoy” pain or sadness at all, like every other normal person. People might be confused by my music or by the lyrics, I don’t know. It’s a style that I chose, the kind of music that I love best. The lyrics might be difficult to understand, as for me metaphors like for example death (”Dying”, “Today” etc.) or apocalypse (”The Days Are Long And Filled With Pain”) aren’t morbid at all but mean the contrary of what one might think in the first place. As I said, it’s all about finding peace and harmony. For example by getting rid of the weight of the body and materialistic needs through dying.
To come back to your question: the saddest thing I can think of is losing my mother, father and brother, I guess.
 
If you went to a fortune teller and she told you that she could tell you the exact time and date of your death; and if knowing that would allow you to create your most powerful song, would you ask her to tell you that date?  (If knowing the exact time and date of your death would allow you to create your most powerful song, would you choose to know this date or not?)

No. That’s too tough. Life quality is more important than “results”.
 
If you could go back in time and photograph the Beatles where would you want to take their picture? If you had total control over lighting and setting, what would that photograph look like?

Beautiful, I hope. But there are so many great pictures of them. I can’t really think of anything that I need to do.
 
Some people believe that an unborn child is influenced by music if it’s played over the mother’s belly. If you could sing two songs, one of your own and one by another artist, to your unborn child, which would they be?

“Lady Sleep” and “Sad Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands” (Dylan).

Describe the most rebellion thing or act you have ever done in your life so far. Why did you do it, and what does it mean to you now?

I haven’t done anything dramatically rebellious. I had green hair, used the women’s toilet at school, played and sang on the street, chose to be an artist. Is that rebellious? I don’t know.

Some people believe they have a spirit guide or spirit animal which guides them. Which animal do you think is yours? Why?

I donnever thought of that. Maybe some bird.

Music is something we can use to communicate with other people and other beings. It is not limited by languages. I wonder, if you had the power to summon an angel by using a single musical instrument, which would you choose and why?

The piano. It has the ability to sound like an orchestra. Plus I’m able to play it.

You experimented with different sounds in your albums. Can you tell me something about how you progressed from the sounds we can hear in “Infinite Love Song” to “Lady Sleep”? What does this evolution in your sound mean to you?

For me, nothing has changed. It’s always the same. Arrangement and sound come second. It’s all about the song and the expression in the voice. Nothing else matters. On “Infinite Love Songs” I recorded everything except for the voice without any knowledge about recording, that’s why it might sound different. But all the records from then on (including the new one which will be released in September 2006) were recorded in the same, professional studio. The “evolution” is one of the parts that people from outside (like for example journalists) might bother to think about.
 
Would you ever consider to develop other artistic careers, such as acting, painting, or writing novels? Are there other arts that appeal to you which you haven’t yet explored? Perhaps playing Hamlet, painting a self-portrait, or publishing a collection of poems?

I’m only good enough for public appearances at music, I guess. But you never know...

What is the last thing or routine you usually do before you go to bed?

Shower and brush my teeth. Nothing special.
 
Now I want to ask a very personal question. If your father fell sick and, while confined to bed, you chose to read a novel aloud to him in his last days, can you tell me which one you would choose? Why?  (If you were to read a novel to a dying man confined to his bed, which would you choose to read aloud, and why?)

A peaceful novel with a happy end, I guess. But I never read one like that. My favourite novels are “Homo Faber” by Max Frisch and “Die Strudlhofstiege” by Heimito von Doderer.

If you were given the power to raise one person from the grave, who would it be? What can you tell me about your relationship to this person?

Rainer Werner Fassbinder. He was the only really great German filmmaker.
